Community Guidelines

Chatib works because millions of short conversations between strangers stay civil. These guidelines are the standard every user is held to — what is fine, what ends a chat, and what ends access to the site.

1The spirit of the rules

Every match is a person you will likely never meet again, giving you a minute of their evening. Treat them the way you would want a stranger to treat someone you care about. Most of what follows is that sentence written out in detail.

2Absolutely not, ever

A short list of things that bring immediate, permanent removal and, where the law requires, a report to authorities:

  • Minors — whether broadcasting or watching — including any attempt to sexualize minors in any way.
  • Threats, blackmail, doxxing, or sharing someone's personal details without consent.
  • Recording, screenshotting or restreaming another user without their agreement.
  • Illegal goods, services or activity of any kind, including solicitation.
  • Impersonating Chatib staff or claiming to speak for the site.

3What ends a conversation

Below the zero-tolerance line sits behavior that ruins chats one at a time. These earn warnings first and removal when repeated:

  • Harassment, slurs, or hateful content targeting anyone's identity.
  • Unwanted sexual behavior on camera — read the room; a random match is not consent.
  • Spam, advertising, or steering matches toward other sites, payment apps or social accounts for money.
  • Deliberately shocking content: gore, self-harm displays, or anything staged to disturb.
  • Evading a ban with a fresh browser, or helping someone else do it.

4Adults only, on both sides

Chatib is an 18+ service. If someone on camera looks underage, report the session immediately — moderators review every such flag, and we would rather check a hundred false alarms than miss one real case. Never continue a conversation you suspect involves a minor.

5How reporting and moderation work

Every conversation shows report and block controls. Block is instant and personal: the match ends and that user stays out of your queue. Report goes further — the session context is flagged for a human moderator who reviews it against these guidelines.

Outcomes scale with severity and history: a warning, a temporary suspension, or a permanent removal. Moderators can see report patterns across the site, so users who collect reports from many different matches surface quickly even when no single report is decisive.

False reports waste review time that real cases need. Reporting someone simply because you disliked the match is itself a violation.

6If a decision was wrong

Moderation is human and humans misread context. If your access was limited and you believe the call was mistaken, email [email protected] explaining what happened. A different moderator re-reads the case, and if we got it wrong we say so and reverse it.

7Looking after yourself

Rules reduce risk; they do not erase it. Keep identifying details — real name, home address, employer, bank or payment accounts — out of conversations with strangers. Never send money or gift cards to someone you met here, whatever the story. The is Chatib safe page collects the habits that experienced users rely on.
